Summary

Amazon’s October 1, 2026 Kindle refresh delivers its biggest physical redesign in years, replacing raised bezels with flush-front screens. Kevin Keith, Amazon vice president of devices, said capacitive touch and haptics create an adaptive dead zone that detects resting fingers and suppresses accidental commands. The six-inch Kindle is 6.8 millimeters thick, weighs 140 grams, turns pages 30% faster than its predecessor and is positioned as the lineup’s most pocket-friendly model. It starts at $149.99 in Ube or Graphite. A 32GB aluminum-backed version adds Alpine Sky and Seaglass Green, although Amazon did not specify its price.

The thinner, lighter Kindle Paperwhite has the lineup’s largest display and highest contrast ratio. Its 16GB Graphite model costs $199.99, while the 32GB Signature Edition costs $249.99 in Graphite or Seaglass Green. Kindle Colorsoft, introduced in 2024 as Amazon’s first color Kindle, receives the same redesign. Its 16GB Graphite model starts at $289.99, while the 32GB Signature Edition costs $319.99 in Graphite or Fig.

The Kindle and aluminum version are available now in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Brazil, U.K., Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Ireland, Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Poland, Japan, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt and Australia. Paperwhite and Colorsoft are available for preorder in those markets. Kids Kindle is on sale, while Kids Kindle Colorsoft is available for preorder only in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Germany and Japan.
