Andy Dunn’s Pie Launches Community Homes, Shifts From Events to Social Networking

Pie, the social app founded by Bonobos founder Andy Dunn, launched Community Homes on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, repositioning its roughly 300,000-user service from one-off events toward durable groups and real-world relationships. Originally a Chicago events app, Pie is available anywhere but has greater traction in Chicago, New York and Los Angeles. Investors include Forerunner, Lightspeed, Accel and Twitter co-founder Ev Williams. Dunn conceived Pie after moving from New York to Chicago and struggling to find friendship, as Gen Z interest in run clubs, art markets, watch parties and other social clubs grew. Nadya Okamoto, founder of New York run club Zoomies, is co-founder and CMO.

Each Community Home provides a group feed, admin and membership controls, a shareable homepage and event-planning tools, positioning Pie against group texts and Facebook Groups. Any member, not only administrators, can share events. Pie plans to add group chats and casual invitations for activities such as crafting or watching the “Love Island” reunion, although it gave no launch dates. In December 2025, Pie changed its feed to emphasize known attendees rather than newly announced events, increasing time on the app from 2 minutes to 10 minutes. A subsequent favorites feature lets users add interests to public profiles.
