Apple iOS 27.2 Expands Siri AI, Adds 160 Security Fixes
Apple's iOS 27.2 expands Siri AI to five beta languages, adds memory and iPhone Duo features, and ships more than 160 security fixes for iPhones and iPads.
Summary
Apple released iOS 27.2 for iPhones and iPads on October 27, 2026, adding beta Siri AI support for French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish. Siri can remember previous conversations and draw answers from Messages photos, calendar attendees, voicemails, Safari history and reading lists, while users can exclude selected apps from memory. OpenAI, Anthropic and Google are also improving preference and fact recall in their assistants.
The update gives the foldable iPhone Duo Apple Pencil support in Notes and Preview despite display problems reported by early buyers, plus an Edge Light video call effect. FaceTime gains Dual Capture streaming from front and rear cameras during group calls, third party sign language interpreters and live captioners. Messages can suggest reminders or calendar events, Shared Albums adds editable captions, comments and expiry reminders, and Podcasts highlights new followed episodes and unfinished listening. Apple TV Multiview lets iPhone users watch up to four live MLS, US Formula 1 or Friday Night Baseball streams, including multiple F1 feeds.
iOS 27.2 contains more than 160 security fixes, with many backported to iOS 26, which Apple says still runs on about 80 percent of iPhones. Apple also sent iOS 18, released in 2024, a fix for a flaw that may have enabled an extremely sophisticated attack against specific targets using versions before iOS 27. Apple identified neither the victims nor attacker, although such language commonly accompanies government spyware or law enforcement forensic device compromises.
