Summary

Disrupt 2026 will host Gamma CEO and co-founder Grant Lee, Engine founder and CEO Elia Wallen, and GV, formerly Google Ventures, general partner Crystal Huang for a Builders Stage session on acquiring the first 1,000 customers without a marketing budget. They will examine community building, product-led growth, founder-led sales, strategic outbound and word of mouth. The event runs October 13 to 15 at Moscone West in San Francisco, with more than 200 sessions across six industry stages, roundtables and breakouts, plus 10,000-plus attendees, 250-plus speakers and 300-plus exhibiting startups. Passes offer savings up to $100 and a second equivalent pass at 50% off.

Stanford-trained engineer Lee previously served as ClearBrain COO before its acquisition by Amplitude and as Optimizely CFO. His AI visual communication platform Gamma reached $100 million in annual recurring revenue in 2025 and approached 100 million users by March 2026 while expanding beyond presentations into websites, social content and AI-generated marketing assets. Wallen bootstrapped Travelers Haven from 2008, raised Engine’s first outside capital in 2019 and shifted his attention to the travel platform, which has served more than 30,000 businesses and 2 million travelers and is cash-flow positive. Engine acquired 30-year-old travel management company Options Travel and its group-flights product TempoTrip in July. Huang, previously an investor at NEA and Notable Capital after starting in technology mergers and acquisitions at Blackstone, focuses on SaaS, infrastructure, AI and product-led or developer-led adoption. She will also judge Startup Battlefield 200.

  • Disrupt 2026 expects more than 10,000 attendees, 250 speakers and 300 exhibiting startups across over 200 sessions.

Risks & concerns

  • Specific execution details for the five acquisition strategies remain limited until the October 13 to 15 session.
