Google Fairwind Gives 650 Partners Gemini AI Cyber Defense

Google launched Fairwind on September 2, 2026, giving more than 650 trusted Google Cloud customers, government agencies and cybersecurity partners limited access to its most advanced defensive AI. Four Flynn, Google vice president for security and privacy, said the program combines the Gemini 3.8 Flash Cyber model with the CodeMender harness to autonomously find, verify and repair vulnerabilities at agentic scale. Google says it can produce validated, deployment ready patches inside secure cloud environments in minutes instead of weeks, at a fraction of traditional frontier model operating costs.

Initial access prioritizes governments, national cyber authorities, public services, critical infrastructure across healthcare, telecommunications, energy and finance, and core software platforms serving millions. Participants must limit use to internal cybersecurity, incident response and penetration testing employees and deploy protections including multi factor authentication, giving defenders time to strengthen systems before bad actors exploit comparable capabilities.

Customers outside Fairwind can use CodeMender with public models hosted on Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform alongside AI Threat Defense. Google plans to expand access with governments, industry and open weight community leaders. Google says its existing zero trust and AI defenses protect billions of accounts daily. Google.org cybersecurity commitments now exceed $100 million globally, including $36 million for 35 U.S. cyber clinics that have supported more than 1,250 hospitals, public school districts and municipal utilities.
