Hoomanely EverBowl Uses AI to Detect Early Signs of Illness in Dogs

On August 27, 2026, Palo Alto startup Hoomanely detailed EverBowl, a sensor equipped feeding station that measures dogs’ food and water intake, eating speed, chewing and swallowing sounds, facial temperature, oral motion and other signals. Its AI establishes individual baselines and health records, then shows prolonged deviations through an app and long-term reports for owners and veterinarians. Users can add information beyond the sensors’ scope. Co-founder and CEO Sai Supriya Sharath says appetite, hydration and oral comfort can change with pain, dental disease, stomach problems, endocrine changes and illness.

An 18-month beta gathered about 5 million data points from more than 80 dogs. Alerts helped trace one dog’s altered eating to an infected chipped tooth and prompted another owner to seek a tick fever diagnosis. However, only about 50 devices have shipped, access costs $29 per month, and Hoomanely lacks independent sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value and false-positive results. Planned veterinary studies will assess those measures by alert category, and the system is not a substitute for diagnosis. Hoomanely also plans EverSense for movement and rest tracking and EverHub for third-party device and environmental inputs. Having raised $1.8 million in pre-seed funding, it is discussing a seed round and ultimately wants to supply animal health data to researchers, nutrition companies and insurers, potentially expanding to cats, livestock and horses.
