Apple released macOS 27 Golden Gate on September 14, 2026, bringing iOS 27’s upgraded Siri to the Mac as a systemwide contextual assistant competing with AI browser sidebars and apps Highlight, Caddy and Littlebird. Siri can inspect a screen, summarize it, explain details or suggest alternatives to a viewed product. Command + Shift + Space adds the focused window to context; Command + Shift + 6 selects a region for questions, image search and shortcuts including Select, Add to Contact and Look up Location. Access to files, emails and messages lets Siri surface membership IDs, trip details and dates, proofread, improve or rewrite selected text, and draft inside any text box.
Spotlight now accepts Siri web questions, filters searches across Applications, Files, Actions and Clipboard, runs Shortcuts and shows recent searches, although it remains less extensible than Raycast. Safari adds AI page tracking for price drops, privacy policy changes and new posts without RSS, plus topic-based tab organization; unlike many rival browsers, it still lacks a sidebar AI assistant. Finder suggests contextual names for downloaded, renamed or saved files.
Liquid Glass adds redesigned icons, an intensity slider, improved diffusion while windows move, uniform corner radii, edge-to-edge sidebars, colorful icons and stronger active-window highlighting. Other additions include enhanced child safety, shared cross-platform photo albums, an updated eraser, better email search, resizable apps in iPhone Mirroring and quick calendar-event suggestions.
