Meta Opens Muse to DIY Hardware With Muse Gadgets and Home Link
Meta opens Muse Gadgets with open source firmware and a Linux SDK, enabling DIY AI hardware as 5,000 free Home Links extend Muse into smart homes and business.
Summary
As of October 3, 2026, Meta’s popular Muse personal AI agent could book travel, complete forms and shop for users. On Friday, Meta introduced Muse Gadgets, an open-source project offering device firmware, a Linux SDK and Discord support so developers can connect Muse to custom hardware. Suggested projects include a color e-ink display and an HDMI TV stick. Raspberry Pi and ESP32 boards can link the agent with displays, buttons, sensors and actuators.
Nat Friedman, head of product at Meta Superintelligence Labs, said Meta built Muse Home Link, a USB-C-powered device that connects Muse through a home network to speakers, smart TVs and other devices. Meta made 5,000 units for free distribution to Muse subscribers while supplies last; Friedman’s X post drew nearly 30,000 views within hours, and shipments were expected within weeks. Meta is also targeting companies through the free, usage-limited Muse for Small Business, which connects with Shopify, Dropbox and Slack, and the new Meta Enterprise Platform for corporate AI customers.
