Summary

Published Oct. 22, 2026, NVIDIA DSX treats grids, substations, facilities and computing as one system as more than $300 billion of equipment remains backlogged and over 200 gigawatts of projects await U.S. interconnection. DSX Sim and manufacturers’ SimReady assets validate generators, switchgear, power and cooling before construction. DSX Flex synchronizes demand with grids and onsite generation, while DSX MaxLPS and DSX Exchange optimize compute per watt and securely share operational signals.

GE Vernova is adding grid-to-facility and rack power expertise. Hitachi Energy’s battery storage system qualified as DSX Ready. Schneider Electric, AVEVA and ETAP are validating NVIDIA Vera Rubin power and cooling architectures and an Omniverse AI factory digital twin using AVEVA software, SimReady assets and OpenUSD. Siemens Energy is developing grid-aware generation, transmission and distribution infrastructure aligned with the DSX Vera Rubin design, while evaluating RAPIDS, Metropolis and Isaac Sim for its Noedra digital twin to monitor grids, identify risks and prevent unplanned outages. Phaidra integrated DSX Flex, DSX Max-Q and DSX Exchange into self-learning agents, delivering about 10% more compute within the same power envelope. Emerald AI added its Conductor platform to DSX Flex, an approach modeled to unlock up to 100 gigawatts of underused U.S. grid capacity. NVIDIA is showcasing the Omniverse DSX Blueprint and Vera Rubin DSX AI Factory Reference Design at GTC Berlin, alongside Hitachi Energy at booth 7004 in hall 7, Schneider Electric at booth 3041 in hall 3 and Siemens Energy at booth 3048 in hall 3. Schneider Electric sessions ran Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2026.

Positives

  • Phaidra’s integration delivered about 10% more compute within the same power envelope.
  • Emerald AI’s Conductor approach could unlock up to 100 gigawatts of underused U.S. grid capacity.
  • Hitachi Energy’s battery storage system qualified as NVIDIA DSX Ready for resilient, reliable and scalable AI factories.
  • DSX Sim validates generators, switchgear, power systems and cooling before construction begins.
  • DSX Flex can convert AI factories from static electricity loads into flexible grid assets.

Risks & concerns

  • More than $300 billion in equipment remains backlogged, constraining infrastructure expansion.
  • Over 200 gigawatts of projects are waiting in U.S. interconnection queues.
  • Separately designed grids, facilities and computing systems create delays, operational risk and stranded capacity.
  • Siemens Energy is still evaluating whether NVIDIA technologies can improve monitoring, risk detection and outage prevention.
  • Emerald AI’s 100-gigawatt capacity estimate is modeled rather than demonstrated at grid scale.
