CyberMedia Research vice president Prabhu Ram says JioPC could establish pay-for-capability computing and a parallel, price-sensitive tier for households and students unable to buy AI-capable PCs, not replace conventional PCs. Adoption depends on changing India’s preference for ownership and making cloud computing a daily utility. Stable internet is mandatory, exposing smaller cities and towns to disruption, while refurbished PCs offer cheap ownership. Jio has disclosed little about its cloud hardware, and listed specifications omit dedicated AI accelerators used for on-device generative AI, weakening its AI-ready claim.
