Summary

On August 26, 2026, India-based Ringg said Peak XV Partners invested $10 million in a Series A extension, following $5.5 million earlier in 2026 and taking the round to $15.5 million. The startup handles 20 million call attempts monthly in a market where a Truecaller study found more than 76% of consumers prefer calling businesses. Ringg began as text-to-speech lab DesiVocal, but expensive model training drove the founders toward enterprise agents. Cred became its first customer, followed by Flipkart, Practo, Groww and PolicyBazaar.

Cofounder Siddharth Tripathi is shifting Ringg beyond price-sensitive outbound calls, lead qualification and loan collection into appointment booking, abandoned-cart recovery, fintech onboarding, KYC, merchant onboarding and L1 and L2 support. Its Practo agent serves 1,200 clinics, booking visits and managing post-visit follow-ups. Calls remain over 70% of business, but Ringg now supports chat, WhatsApp and browser-based requests for clients including Shell. Most customers are in India, with a handful in the Middle East and U.S.; rather than sell directly in America, Ringg plans partnerships with India-based Global Capability Centers combining automation and human support.

Ringg builds speech recognition and generation models, but costly infrastructure and deployment prevent full-stack ownership, so its orchestration layer routes tasks among models. Peak XV principal Rishen Kapoor credits its research roots for handling complex workflows end to end. Competitors include model makers Deepgram, ElevenLabs, Cartesia, Sarvam and Smallest.ai, orchestrators Bolna and Blue Machines, and finance specialists Gnani and Arrowhead. Ringg has 40 employees after hiring more than 15 in three months, and is recruiting forward-deployed engineers with product skills and researchers to lower model costs.

Positives

  • Peak XV Partners invested $10 million, lifting Ringg’s Series A total to $15.5 million.
  • Ringg processes 20 million call attempts monthly as more than 76% of Indian consumers prefer calling businesses.
  • Practo deploys Ringg’s voice agent across 1,200 clinics for bookings and post-visit follow-ups.
  • Chat, WhatsApp and Shell’s browser-based support work are expanding Ringg beyond calls, which still generate over 70% of business.
  • More than 15 hires in three months expanded Ringg’s workforce to 40 employees.

Risks & concerns

  • Full-stack ownership remains too expensive, forcing Ringg to orchestrate different models rather than control infrastructure and deployment.
  • Outbound calling, lead qualification and loan collection proved insufficiently sticky and vulnerable to price competition.
  • Deepgram, ElevenLabs, Cartesia, Sarvam, Smallest.ai, Bolna, Blue Machines, Gnani and Arrowhead create intense competition across the voice AI stack.
  • U.S. expansion depends on Global Capability Center partnerships because Ringg is not pursuing direct sales to American companies.
