Summary

Roblox used its September 11, 2026 annual Roblox Developer Conference to broaden Build, the natural language game creator announced in July. Previously limited to New Zealand, Build is expanding to Serbia and Singapore with desktop access, an asset library and iterative controls. Prompt based scene generation will reach Build and Roblox Studio later in 2026. Creators will soon be able to release separate mobile, PC and console apps powered by Roblox, while browser play through shared links arrives by year end. Planned additions include playtesting NPCs, offline mode and a persistent Friends chat tab with voice typing.

An updated discovery algorithm will recommend shorter games to younger users and longer experiences to older players. New 2D tools include an orthographic camera, animated image containers and direct sprite sheet imports, while Moments viewers will be able to buy items from avatars shown in clips. Roblox says creators have earned more than $5 billion since 2013, including $1.7 billion during the past 12 months. Airwallex will power Roblox Wallet for U.S. creators aged 18 and older, providing real money by each business day’s end and bank transfers, with global expansion planned. Roblox Card will follow in 2027 for spending earnings wherever accepted. Founder and CEO David Baszucki said players logged more than 29 billion hours across 180 countries last quarter.

Positives

  • Build is expanding from New Zealand to Serbia and Singapore, adding desktop creation, reusable assets and iterative controls.
  • Separate mobile, PC and console apps will let creators distribute Roblox powered games beyond the platform.
  • Browser links will enable players to join games without opening Roblox by the end of 2026.
  • More than $5 billion has reached creators since 2013, including $1.7 billion during the latest 12 months.
  • Roblox Wallet will give eligible U.S. creators real money by each business day’s end and support bank transfers.
  • Offline mode and playtesting NPCs could improve accessibility and help creators test experiences more efficiently.

Risks & concerns

  • Build remains limited to New Zealand, Serbia and Singapore, leaving creators elsewhere without the prompt based tool.
  • Roblox Wallet initially serves only U.S. creators aged 18 and older, with no date for global expansion.
  • Standalone apps are promised only for an unspecified future date, while several other tools remain scheduled for later in 2026.
  • Roblox Card is only teased for 2027, with operating details still limited.
  • Offline mode has no stated release date despite targeting players with weak network connections.
