Duo-Man Turns Apple’s iPhone Duo Into a Virtual Walkman
Duo-Man turns Apple’s iPhone Duo into a virtual Walkman, using dual displays, real cassette sounds, Apple Music and nostalgic controls when it launches.
Summary
Ahead of iPhone Duo preorders later in October 2026, indie iOS developer Vidit Bhargava has demoed Duo-Man, a virtual Walkman for Apple’s first foldable. Its open 7.6-inch inner display lets users choose music and “insert” a cassette, while closing the handset onto its 5.4-inch outer display starts playback. Bhargava, a longtime Walkman enthusiast, recorded clicks and static from a real player after conceiving the hinged interaction for that weekend’s Bitrig hackathon, where Duo-Man placed second. Bitrig uses AI to help developers build native apps in Apple’s Swift.
Bhargava’s September 27 X demo surpassed 1.8 million views and nearly 10,000 likes, persuading him to turn the prototype into a released app. It will support Apple Music and local files, let an Apple Pencil “roll” the cassette loop, and recreate Walkman-style fast-forward and rewind. Spotify may follow, but no launch date had been announced by September 28. The response connects foldable hardware with younger consumers’ interest in retro cameras, flip phones, CDs, landlines and cassettes. Bhargava previously released LookUp, Movie Buzz and a time zone utility.
