Tinder Launches Group Hangouts as Monthly Users Fall 7%

Tinder launched Group Hangouts on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, letting friends choose an activity, invite at least two others and appear in the main card stack once the group reaches three members. Groups can include up to 15 people. If at least one member from each group likes the other, everyone enters a shared planning chat. Group Hangouts expands Tinder’s 2025 Double Date feature, which connects pairs, and advances its shift from individual dates toward social outings. Claire Watanabe, Tinder’s vice president of product management, said a college women’s volleyball team that used Tinder during away games to explore towns and meet locals helped inspire the product, although early groups generally remain close circles rather than large gatherings. Tinder added an Events tab in March 2026 for activities including speakeasies, bowling and pottery classes, then expanded in-person events to dozens more cities in September. Bumble is pursuing a similar approach with Plans. The changes arrive as Tinder’s latest quarterly revenue declined and second-quarter monthly active users fell 7%, following an 8% drop in the previous quarter.
